ABOUT GOOD COMPANY

Over the past few years I have had the pleasure to meet and work with a wide range of artists. From these initial meetings, lasting friendships have bloomed. I am always excited to catch up on new projects and see creativity evolve among these artists through the lens of social media. However, I find profound joy in viewing art in person, in its native and organic form, the way it is meant to be experienced.

I had an eager drive to bring my artist acquaintances together and offer them an open place to present their works in a responsive and natural manner. GOOD COMPANY is the result.

GOOD COMPANY is a collective of artists supporting artists. Our mission is to encourage collaboration and artistic creation by providing a physical space and platform for artists of all practices to share their work with the community.

Our goal is to hold GOOD COMPANY events on a regular basis, throughout the year. Los Angeles is certainly brimming with talented and eclectic artists. Through community support and helpful donations, we hope to bring these artists together for future GOOD COMPANY shows!

Holland Rusk

At an early age, Holland was thrust into the art world like baby Simba on top of Pride Rock. Growing up with two parents who have careers in this broad discipline, it was only inevitable that she would pursue art for herself. While studying cinematography at Chapman University, Holland was constantly surrounded by creative individuals who expanded her mind. Even now, as an LA resident, these meaningful interactions and friendships are thriving and no doubt inform her own artistic style of film and photography. In addition to enjoying exuberant cannonball dives into a range of genres, subjects, and types of productions as a Director of Photography, Holland's passion lies in capturing daily life and candid moments through different formats. To her, the most excellent days begin at the crack of dawn (no, really) at the beach with her Minolta, and end with a shared meal (preferably pizza or at Carousel) among good company.

Holly’s Artist Style Icon: During any creative process, I always revisit Eve Arnold's statement, "It is the photographer, not the camera, that is the instrument." She immersed herself in the present and captured candid moments of life naturally, without studio alterations or enhancements. Her own presence in her photographs, and her authentic connection to her subjects made the ordinary look special.

Farrah Su

Farrah Su is a 1.5 generational Taiwanese American multimedia creator, raised in New York, and now making her way around Los Angeles. She believes that art is an empowering medium that gives people the agency to share their own stories and works to continue uplifting the voices of her communities through her art. Impacted by her experiences, Farrah values community-based efforts and creating “for the people, by the people”. Through Good Company, she has enjoyed connecting and supporting local artists while working with a great team of friends that seek to foster meaningful relationships with each other. In addition to Good Company, Farrah spends her time taking public transportation, watching video essays, and coming to terms with her lactose intolerance.

Farrah’s Artist Style Icon: Sarah Kay (poet)
Sarah Kay’s words magnify the beauty and significance of a seemingly everyday experience, in a way that is authentic, raw, and loving. She allows audiences to look back at moments in their life with gratitude and tenderness that is often needed when the world feels so large.

Hadley Dion

Hadley Dion is a podcast producer and independent filmmaker from Los Angeles. Since early childhood, Hadley has prioritized imagination over reality. She was always entering fantasy worlds through media or her own storytelling. This eventually lent itself to an early love of filmmaking. She studied sound design for film at Chapman University, where she was introduced to the other creative forces of the Good Company Committee. When she isn’t collaborating on the next Good Company show, her passion is creating female driven film and audio projects. Her other loves include rare thrift shop finds, body positive art, and the esoteric.

Hadley’s Artist Style Icon: Lately I've been thinking a lot about Mary Beth Edelson's goddess imagery. It inspires the art I hope to make, female focused but avoiding any perpetuation of the male gaze. I am interested in exploring the divine feminine in a modern day context and Edelson's work serves as inspiration in this line of thinking.

Hannah Geller

Hannah Geller is a writer and filmmaker from New Jersey. Growing up Hannah was always asked “how are you going to contribute to the world?” After spending 23 years trying to find the answer, the one thing she is sure of is that it will be artistically. Hannah is drawn to the impact, both personal and socio-political, art has. She feels that art changes the world in more ways than one. Wanting to follow her passion, Hannah studied filmmaking at Chapman University where she collaborated with the founders of Good Company for the first time. When Hannah isn’t working on Good Company, she spends her time reading, writing, and trying to figure out where to get a good bagel in LA.

Hannah’s Artist Style Icon: Barbra Kruger is one of my all time favorite artists. Her work leans into the concept of the personal is political without apology. I love how provocative and unforgiving her work is and how the themes she explores - consumerism, race, gender, power - are more relevant than ever before.
